Doug is an experienced litigator. He was a sole practitioner for 10 years in Richmond, with a general practice that featured increasing numbers of ICBC plaintiff files. In 1993 ICBC had had enough and hired him to work in-house as a defense counsel in their New Westminster office.
In 1996 he was promoted into the ICBC regional department. In 1997 he achieved a longstanding goal of moving to the Island and he packed up his young family and moved to Nanaimo to open the ICBC Mid Island litigation office. He was there until 2012, doing litigation exclusively for ICBC. This involved many trials, including jury trials and trips to the Court of Appeal.
In 2012 he retired from ICBC and after a few months to decompress, he joined John Davis in his practice in Parksville, acting as trial counsel and taking over files as they approached trial. In 2020, Doug and Mr. Davis joined Marshall and Lamperson.
Since joining Marshall and Lamperson, while working off the remaining ICBC plaintiff files, he has gradually transitioned into family law practice, estate litigation, and general solicitor work. Doug works out of our Qualicum Beach law office.
